5 Tips for Conquering Procrastination

Did you catch my No More Excuses Teleclass? I’ve heard back from a number of people who left the call with some great ideas on how to take action towards creating the life and career they want. Here’s a quick recap of the tips I shared for conquering procrastination:

1. Keep the Big Picture in mind: It’s easy to put things off when you put your vision on the back burner.

2. Get organized by using an action plan and a “to-do” list: Sometimes it is not fear that holds us back but disorganization.

3. Break things down into small chunks: If spending two hours working on something feels overwhelming, break it down into 30 minute segments that are more manageable.

4. Choose your words carefully: Instead of saying “I should” and “I have to,” say, I choose to….” Making a choice to do something comes from a place of power rather than guilt or force.

5. Celebrate your wins – no matter how small: It’s hard to stay motivated task after task after task if there is no reward other than getting it done. Look for ways to pat your self on the back when you deserve it.
